Volvo Brings Flagship EX90 EV to India
Volvo Car India has expanded its zero-emission portfolio with the launch of its flagship EX90 electric SUV, priced at ₹1.26 crore (ex-showroom). The full-size electric vehicle comes equipped with a massive 106 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed driving range of up to 625 km on a single charge. Designed as a premium family vehicle, the model features a spacious 6-seater cabin layout alongside Volvo's latest suite of active safety technologies.
What the Launch Means for Luxury EV Buyers
The EX90 enters India's top-tier electric segment, competing directly against high-end SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and BMW iX. Equipped with standard CCS2 fast-charging capability, the EX90 can utilise public DC fast chargers from networks such as Tata Power and ChargeZone across national highways. Buyers will also benefit from the standard 5% GST on electric vehicles and full road-tax waivers in select progressive Indian states, helping offset import overheads.
Next Steps for Prospective Buyers
Interested buyers can book the EX90 through official Volvo dealerships or online portals across major metropolitan cities. Test drives and deliveries are slated to roll out in phases. Due to the large 106 kWh battery capacity, prospective owners are advised to set up a dedicated 11 kW or 22 kW AC wallbox charger at home for efficient overnight charging.
